Hugs and kisses or xoxo is a term used for expressing affection or good friendship at the end of a written letter, email or SMS text message. The common custom of placing X’s on envelopes, notes and at the bottom of letters to mean kisses dates back to the Middle Ages, when a Christian cross was drawn on documents or letters to mean sincerity, faith, and honesty. 

The ‘O’ is of North American descent; no one really seems to know how it was started. It has been said that when arriving to the US, Jewish immigrants would use an ‘O’ on documents, not using the sign of the cross, and shop keepers would often use an ‘O’ when signing documents, in place of an ‘X’. Perhaps now it is used as the ‘O’ being rounded represents arms encircling another, as in an embrace. ‘X’ is used to signify a kiss and ‘O’ is used to signify a hug. The use of ‘X’ to signify a kiss dates back to as early as 1765.

DAYS WEEKLY - Episode 1

STEAMY (“Steamy Moments Between Carrie & Austin”; Such Moments Edited, Revisited + Translated)

“A bunch of thugs from the gambling ring had beaten Austin up, pretty badly, after he refused to throw a fight for them. Thankfully, he had Carrie there to take care of him. He took a bath, and, well, it got a little steamy.”

(Soft, endearing electronic piano ambiance)

(Austin crawls into bathtub, grunting slightly…)

“Ok, safe now.”

(Carrie turns to see Austin sitting in a pool of bubbles. At first glance his hand looks like its in a yellow rubber glove.)

“Be sure not to get your cast wet.”

“It’s nice to have somebody taking care of me. These bubbles feel good.” 

(Smiling; Attempting to play with bubbles…)

“I can’t believe Gus. How could he do that to another human being?!”

“Gus lost a lot of money. Because I didn’t throw that fight. Let’s not talk about Gus, okay?”

“How can you not think about him? I mean, every time you move you’re in pain!”

(Hesitates)

“…Not anymore. It only hurts when I laugh.”

(Smiling)

“Hand me the washcloth.”

(Carrie dowses the washcloth in bubbles and begins to massage Austin’s chest with it)

(Music picks up, breathing gets heavy…)

“… That feels good.”

“Close your eyes.”

“Why?”

“I need to wash your hair.”

(Sexy saxophone music begins to wail softly…)

(Water awkwardly pouring over Austin’s head…)

“Ohhhh… this… is… heaven.”

“Yea. Sure is.”

“Hey—”

(Brief nervous laughter, Austin makes rapid upward motion towards Carrie…)

(Saxophone music takes over; kissing…)

“Whoa!”

(Carrie falls into bathtub…)

“Austin!”

“I told you! It only hurts when I laugh!”

(Laughing)

(Kissing)

- Krusht releases a new single: Everything Is Beautiful, online thru Amdiscs Label, Los Angeles. So happy to have made the artwork to go along with it! 

- Danny Clay releases the first Don’t Be A Stranger limited edition compilation on cassette and digital! The mixtape features 14 songs by 14 different artists (including Joseby DaMonice!) All proceeds benefit both the participating artists and the label itself. ~o yeah~

- A few days in Chicago… 

- Tropical Strawberry Piña Colada Sundae, sweet as a breeze on Waikiki Beach, served in a giant white seashell.

- EAS is having it’s very first flea market for artists next Wednesday (June 20) ART MART 2012 — Location tba. 

- Kind of obsessed with the charm of the Cosmic Mysteries School (website + podcast). A couple discusses their cosmic journeys and experiences with ancient Mayan culture, religious elders, and sacred pyramid sites.

- This interview. 

- Things are still pink flamingos, Cleopatra, white one white on white. I can see things evolving to a sophisticated golden black and tan.
